FAQ

Questions, answered plainly

Everything people usually ask before they enquire. If your question isn't here, a real person is happy to answer it.

Enquiring and your credit file

Does enquiring affect my credit score?

No. There's no credit check when you first enquire with Hassle Free Loans. Asking what's possible leaves your credit file untouched. A check only happens later, if you choose to go ahead with a specific option.

When will a credit check happen?

At the assessment stage, after you've talked to us, chosen an option and sent your documents. We'll tell you whose credit file will be checked before it happens.

Whose credit file gets checked for a business loan?

Usually the people behind the business: the sole trader, each partner, or the directors and anyone giving a guarantee. Company credit files may be checked too.

Can I enquire with bad credit?

Yes. Bad credit and ATO debt are considered case by case. Tell us about it in the enquiry so the options we discuss are realistic from the start.

Your details and who contacts you

Will my details be sent to other lenders?

No. Your enquiry goes to our own lending team. It isn't sprayed out to a pile of lenders or sold as a lead, so you won't get a wave of calls from strangers.

Who will call me, and when?

One real person from our lending team, generally during business hours. The call may come from a number you don't recognise, so it's worth answering unknown numbers for a day or so.

Can my accountant or bookkeeper talk to you for me?

Yes, with your permission. Just let us know who they are and what they can discuss.

I filled in a comparison site form and the calls won't stop. Can you help?

That wasn't us, but our guide on stopping loan marketing calls explains how to withdraw consent, unsubscribe and find out where your details came from.

Paperwork

What documents do I need to enquire?

None. Documents come later, and only the ones your chosen option needs. Our paperwork checklist builder shows the likely list in advance.

What paperwork is usually needed if I go ahead?

Commonly photo ID, your ABN and recent business bank statements. Depending on your situation, you may also need BAS, an ATO statement, tax returns, an accountant's letter, trust or company documents, or property details.

Can I get a business loan if my tax returns aren't up to date?

Often, yes. Bank statements, lodged BAS or an accountant's letter can sometimes stand in. Tell us where your lodgements are up to.

What if I have an ATO debt?

Mention it, and whether it's on a payment plan. ATO debt is considered case by case, and some businesses borrow specifically to clear it.

Loans and costs

What kinds of business finance can you help with?

Unsecured, cash-flow and line-of-credit options for trading businesses, typically $5,000 to $500,000, and property-secured business loans from $20,000 to $5,000,000, including first mortgages, second mortgages and caveat loans over residential or commercial property.

Do you publish interest rates?

No. Every loan is priced on the business's own circumstances: the amount, security, trading history, credit and purpose. You'll see every cost in writing before you sign.

Are there fees to enquire?

No. Enquiring is free. Any costs of a loan are set out in the written terms for you to read before you commit.

Do you offer personal loans?

No. We help with business-purpose finance only, for Australian sole traders, partnerships, companies and trusts.

Is a no-credit-check enquiry the same as a no-credit-check loan?

No. The enquiry involves no credit check. Before a loan is approved, a responsible lender will generally review credit history. Be wary of anyone promising funds with no checks at all.

Why do you ask me to fill in the form accurately?

Because every answer is later checked against documents. Accurate answers, including anything awkward, mean the option we discuss on the first call is the one that still fits at the end.

Still wondering?

Read about how applying affects your credit score, what paperwork you really need, or what happens after you enquire. Or simply ask: the enquiry takes about a minute and involves no credit check.
